Joanne Zitek

Joanne Zitek provides a full range of consulting services to client organization, including advising on organization strategy and implementation, executive coaching, management development, and the design, development and facilitation of learning systems.

Joanne’s background includes organization development; intercultural communication; global diversity and inclusion; board, executive, management and professional development; recruitment; and community relations. She has consulted to corporations in the financial services, healthcare, communications, publishing, pharmaceutical, engineering, transportation, food, consumer products, manufacturing and high technology industries, as well as to the United States government, higher education and other nonprofit organizations.

Joanne is the founder of Zitek Associates, a management consulting firm specializing in organization change and global diversity. She was Senior Vice President of Center Focus International, Inc., a consulting company specializing in organization change and cultural diversity, where she consulted to Fortune 100 and 500 companies, nonprofit organizations and government entities. As Manager of the BoardBank of the United Way, she provided board development services to over 55 nonprofit organizations, assisting many to diversify ethnically.

As Director of Management Development at Fidelity Investments, Joanne designed and managed a system to develop new managers for a national network of 60 investor centers. This system was instrumental in implementing Fidelity’s business strategy to move toward more proactive, sales-oriented management of retail business.

As Manager of Professional Development at Bank of Boston (now Bank of America), she managed the design, development, implementation and evaluation of large-scale human resource development systems to support the business strategy. She designed and implemented the organization development and management development components of a multi-year business strategy to increase processing and service revenues by developing broadly experienced general managers of operations. She also created a state-of-the-art development system for branch managers, which included the first training in increasing revenues through cultural awareness.

Joanne has presented and conducted workshops on intercultural communication to international audiences in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany and Japan, as well as throughout the US. She has consulted to an American company acquired by a French company and to an international development organization. She has worked with the Canadian government to attract U.S. business operations. She was a member of the team that developed the first corporate-wide executive education in global diversity and inclusion for an 87,000 member global pharmaceutical company. She was the keynote speaker for a hospitality industry conference on international intercultural communication and has conducted workshops on intercultural communication for international business for the World Trade Institute.

Joanne holds a B.S. from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, U.S.A., and an Ed.M. from Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
